Libmemcached?

    • Thanks for the explanation. I was going to install memcached and then libmemcached but I'm a bit lost since there are many ways to install memcached and I can't understand which is the better way:
      1 My sysadmin way:

      Shell-Script

      1. yum -y install epel-release
      2. cd /root
      3. wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm
      4. rpm -Uvh remi-release-7*.rpm
      5. yum --enablerepo=remi install memcached
      6. wget https://launchpad.net/libmemcached/1.0/1.0.18/+download/libmemcached-1.0.18.tar.gz
      7. tar -xzvf libmemcached-1.0.18.tar.gz
      8. cd libmemcached-1.0.18
      9. ./configure
      10. make
      11. make install
      12. cd ~
      13. git clone https://github.com/php-memcached-dev/php-memcached.git
      14. cd php-memcached
      15. git checkout php7
      16. /opt/cpanel/ea-php70/root/usr/bin/phpize
      17. ./configure --with-php-config=/opt/cpanel/ea-php70/root/usr/bin/php-config --disable-memcached-sasl
      18. make
      19. make install
      20. make clean
      21. /opt/cpanel/ea-php71/root/usr/bin/phpize
      22. ./configure --with-php-config=/opt/cpanel/ea-php71/root/usr/bin/php-config --disable-memcached-sasl
      23. make
      24. make install
      Display All
      2d way:
      cyberciti.biz/faq/rhel-fedora-…ached-caching-system-rpm/

      Shell-Script

      1. rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm
      2. yum install memcached php-pecl-memcache memcached-selinux
which is the best way to install memcached so?

Would be too much to ask for installation instructions?
Are you talking about enabling the Remi repo?
If so, on CentOS 6 it's simply doing
      wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-6.rpm
      sudo rpm -Uvh remi-release-6*.rpm

      If on CentOS 7
      wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm
      sudo rpm -Uvh remi-release-7*.rpm

Then to install (once the repo is enabled)
sudo yum --enablerepo=remi install memcached libmemcached-devel should work. Since I use CentMin it's installed via the script itself so it's been a while since I've done it outside of that.

Now, if you are going to use it with PHP you have to remember to install the PECL's also.
pecl install memcache should do that for you.
